How much did E10 petrol prices vary between larger fuel brands?
Among fuel brands with at least 50 E10 prices in July 2026, Maxol had the lowest average at 153.9p, while Shell had the highest at 163.1p. The 9.2p difference is worth about £5.06 on a 55-litre fill before the cost of extra driving.
The lowest-average brand was not necessarily cheapest at every station. Compare nearby station prices and allow for any extra driving before choosing where to fill up.

Prices included
Each average uses validated prices listed during July 2026. The number beside each fuel brand shows how many prices were used.
Typical low, not a single minimum
The comparison tables use the 5th percentile as the typical low. The observed minimum remains in the CSV for audit, but it is not used as the headline comparison.
Minimum sample and validation
Brand tables require at least 50 prices. Values outside 79.9–299.9p/L are rejected, then a conservative per-fuel robust check removes isolated extreme values. 3 invalid or isolated extreme price values were excluded before aggregation.
Methodology version: Route & Fuel monthly report v2. For fuels with at least 20 valid observations, the robust band uses quartiles with a wide five-IQR rule and a ±60p-per-litre median guard. This is intentionally broad so plausible motorway or remote-area prices remain included. The CSV publishes count, average, median, observed minimum, 5th percentile and 95th percentile for reproducibility.
A fuel-brand average does not show which station is cheapest near you. Compare local prices and allow for any extra driving.
