Compare recent Shell prices in the published data, then search your postcode. A chain average is a starting point, not a promise for every forecourt.
Shell price distribution
Station counts show how many forecourts had a recent price for each fuel grade. They are not the retailer's total estate.

Clear answers before you fill up
Price data is useful only when the fuel grade, update time and extra journey are understood.
What is the average Shell petrol price?
The page uses a median rather than presenting a single chain-wide quote. In the latest published snapshot, the E10 median is 155.90p.
Is Shell always the cheapest?
No. Prices vary by station, region, fuel grade and date. Compare the local record and route rather than assuming a chain is always cheapest.
Why show a typical range?
The typical range leaves out the highest and lowest 5% of reports, which reduces the effect of unusual values. It is not a guaranteed minimum or maximum.
