Weekly unleaded and diesel begin on 9 June 2003. Monthly unleaded and diesel begin in January 1989; monthly super unleaded begins in January 1991. Older January-only diesel extends to 1955, and discontinued two-star/four-star petrol series extend to 1954. Each series has its own dates and sampling basis.
The government's label “premium unleaded / ULSP” means regular unleaded. Its super-unleaded series does not identify octane, retailer or station: it cannot establish historic 99-RON or Momentum availability. The regular-unleaded definition also changed as E10 was introduced, at different dates in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Mid-month figures represent observations near the middle of each month. Yearly averages and January snapshots have different meanings. These series are kept separate from Route & Fuel's observed station averages and individual grade-price history.
The current weekly CSV was retrieved and reviewed on 8 September 2026. The historical weekly CSV and monthly workbook retain their 7 September source vintages. The latest weekly observation is 7 September 2026; the latest monthly observation is August 2026. Revisions require a new retained source vintage and comparison with the previous version.
